As someone who got nastily zinged by Emily Gould on Gawker (for my “oversharing” in the pages of The New York Times, no less), I particularly appreciated — and enjoyed — her brave personal essay (May 25). Above all, it was helpful to gain insight into some of the motivations behind the increasingly vicious blog world, courtesy of one of its former mean girls. Gould’s was just the kind of confessional piece she might have had a field day eviscerating in her days as a Gawker editor. It’s nice to see that she’s at least somewhat reformed, even if she lost some of her smugness only as a result of painful karmic retribution, apparently turned around at an accelerated rate on the Internet.
